(The chapter opens with the legionary ship with tenebris standing outside Corvis cell room)

Sol: (leaves Corvis cell room) 

Tenebris: get anything new? 

Sol: not sure, he said the dead stars didn't take  the person your looking for. 

Tenebris: they didn't? then who could've? 

Sol: not sure. he could be lying.

Tenebris: I don't know if he was...Gregor claimed they attacked in the Brennandi passage. were their any reports of pirates going that far south? 

Sol: very few, but none of them are recent. 

Tenebris: where are you karri. 

Legionary 1: captain, we almost to the northern gate.

Sol: thank you. I have to go. your free to talk with him. (she leaves with the legionary) 

Tenebris: (walks into his cell room) 

Corvis: (looks over) oh its you. come to ask me about that boy, you people can keep coming back and asking but the answers always gonna be the same. I don't know where he is, we were not the ones who took him. If we were he'd be dead on the spot.

Tenebris: I know you didn't take him. your a criminal but not a liar.

Corvis: my reputation proceeds me. 

Tenebris: but if you have any information about who did, we might be able to make a deal. 

Corvis: a deal? hehe...hehaHA HAHAHHA "cough" aghhh...what could you possibly be thinking? 

Tenebris: Elvo has bounties out for all of your crew, pirates like you don't get second chances. when we get to Renna, you will be tried and sentenced. 

Corvis: You think I don't know that? We chose to be pirates, to live the way we wanted. If you want information, I don't have any for you. so leave me alone. (he looks away) 

Tenebris: alright...alright. my offer still stands if something happens to jog your memory. (he starts walking out) 

Corvis: (still looking away, a tear falls down his face) 

(tenebris, joins arthor and magi on deck as they passthrough the gate) 

(they walk down off the ship and are greeted by Elvinian legionaries) 

(Legionary's walk passed them with a chained up corvis) 

Man: Welcome back Sol, It seems your mission was a success. 

(they all look over to see a younger man in black and pink robes with blond hair and blue eyes) 

Sol: AHH...(bows and starts talking really fast) my king...yes you...AHH, I was going to say thank you, but that didn't make sense so I was going to say yes, but I said them together...AHH, sorry my king. 

Augustin: It's really no problem Sol, and I said you can call me Augustin. 

Sol: AhH...right sorry, king Augustin. 

Augustin: Still as frantic as ever. (walks over to tenebris) you must be the man I am to thank for the information on the Dead stars. 

Tenebris: my name is Tenebris sir. 

Augustin: and whose this? 

Arthor: Arthor...

Tenebris: (elbows him) 

Arthor: ...sir. 

Augustin: well I cannot thank you enough for what you have done. the dead stars have been a threat to my kingdom for many years. The capture of their head captain is a major milestone, whether the rest are still out there or not. This calls for a celebration! come join me. (he starts walking) 

(they walk after him) 

Augustin: So, Tenebris was it, how exactly did you come about this information on the dead stars. 

Tenebris: Its a long story, I would say it's all luck, but something tells me I was meant to cross paths with those pirates. I've had a few run ins with them before. they believe I had something they wanted. sure enough they took the bait and the rest is history. 

Augustin: something they wanted? 

Tenebris: that's correct. 

  Augustin: what could that possibly be. 

Tenebris: we'll that's an even longer story. 

Augustin: I like a good story, but lets get something to eat first, you must be hungry after traveling for so long. 

Tenebris: The 17th legion took good care of us. 

Sol: (blushes)

Agustin: well then, I shall see to it that they are compensated for their great work and their great food. 

Arthor: Augustin sir, can I ask for something? 

Agustin: you helped too didn't you, then ask anything. 

Arthor: we need a ship to search for brother.

Agustin: brother? what's situation there? 

Tenebris: His brother karri, was kidnapped several days ago in the Brennandi passage. We believed it was the Dead stars but unfortunately they had no part in that. which means he's still out there, but we have no leads. 

Augustin: Of Corse, and I will send out a message now, to all the legionaries in my kingdom, to search for your brother. (he points to a guard walking with them and he splits of from the group) 

Arthor: (whispers) like the legions are going to do anything. 

Tenebris: (whispers to arthor) its better than us searching for him by ourselves. 

Augustin: (they come to the castle gates) let me welcome you to my kingdom, heroes of Elvo. 

CHAPTER 36 HEROES 

(the chapter opens with tenebris and arthor sitting at a banquet table with Augustin. Augustin and arthor are eating a lot and tenebris just sit there) 

Augustin: (mouth full) what's wrong tenebris? (swallows) don't like the food? 

Tenebris: no, this food is amazing, I'm just...not hungry. 

Augustin: very well. I am curious. were you injured in the fight against the dead stars? 

Tenebris: what? 

Augustin: your arm? It's all bandaged up, but you seam to not have a single other scratch on you. 

Tenebris: Oh, this isn't from the dead stars this is... a product of terrible choices I'll say. 

Augustin: oh, unexpected but I know what you mean, I may not look it but I was a cage fighter in my younger days. this one time I was fighting a man, totally wrecked him, but I decided to do a backflip after the last round, landed right on my back. was sore for a month. 

Tenebris: this is a little bit different. 

Augustin: still thought, it is quite impressive you were able to capture the head captain of the dead stars, and didn't even get hurt. My legions could use someone like you. 

Arthor: (starts choaking) "cough" "cough" what? 

Augustin: you might even become a royal knight one day. what do you say? 

Tenebris: I apricate the offer, but the legions just isn't the place for me. 

Augustin: well the offer still stands, (Arthors trying to drink water to stop coughing) same goes for you young arthor. 

Arthor:  (he chokes on that too and spits it out) Hell no! 

Augustin: excuse me? 

Tenebris: What he meant to say is he has other things in mind other than the legions. 

Arthor: (angrily) That's one way to put it. 

Augustin: worth a try. it's not easy being a legionary, I understand. shall I show you to your room then? 

Tenebris: that would be great. 

(guards take arthor and tenebris to their room in the castle) (they open the door to their room)

Arthor: will you join the legions. can you believe that? you think your getting rewarded for your hard work and that guys just treating us nice because he wants us to join his army. what a joke. 

Tenebris: your unbelievable. you got to eat food prepared by the best chefs in Elvo and get to sleep in the royal castle. not only that but we get a ship and money to find karri, and your angry. 

Arthor: Yeah, I'm angry. 

Tenebris: what is it going to take for you to not hate even the mention of the legions? 

Arthor: nothing. I will always hate them. 

Tenebris: did you learn nothing from barrok? 

Arthor: all they did was get in the way, if it wasn't for you going berserk and me calming you down, we would have died right there. or did you forget that part of barrok too? 

Tenebris: if it wasn't for you blatantly disobeying me, and staying with blackheart, Corvis never would have gotten that opportunity. 

Arthor: if you just let me fight from the begging he never would've gotten that opportunity either! 

 Tenebris: Stop acting like your better then everyone else, your a kid. Sol has been a legionary longer than you've been alive. If you really think that your stronger than any legionary, your going to end up doing something reckless and get yourself killed, and I don't want anything to happen to you Kane! . . . .  

Arthor: (Shocked ). . . whose Kane? 

Tenebris: no one...I just...I need to step outside. 

(tenebris is walking down the empty halls of the castle) 

Tenebris: (holding the cracked ring) (thinking) ever since that day. (the room disappears and becomes a stone path surrounded by a white void) before that day, my path seemed so clear. whatever road we went down, it didn't matter because we faced it together. (his 4 spirits appear next to him) but out of all the roads we went down, there was one I knew was the one for me. (a shorter spirit with long tied back white hair wearing blue appears walking farther down the path tenebris and his spirits are on. ) but then (fog covers the path and tenebris is left alone walking forward) I lost it...I lost you. my life has had no direction since then. but (a light shines through the fog) then I saw something I thought I would never see again. (he walks towards the light and sees Arthor and Karri with Blackheart  Jaeja and Johsef) a chance. (the castle halls reappear) but now...I lost the path again. (tenebris comes to a door at the end of the hall and opens it) 

Augustin: Tenebris, back so soon is there something wrong with the room? 

Tenebris: no, I just needed to get some air. 

Augustin: is everything okay? you look like you've seen a ghost? 

Tenebris: I'm fine, I really do appreciate everything you've done for us. 

Augustin: of course, the dead star pirates have been untouchable for so many years. it's really the least I could do. are you sure there's nothing more I can do? 

Tenebris: no. Finding karri is the only important thing. 

Augustin: (sits back in his thrown) Tenebris, can I tell you something? 

Tenebris: sure? 

Augustin: "Hough" if you asked for money, I could send you home as one of the riches men in my kingdom. if you asked for power I'd give you a legion to command, but finding karri...I cant promise you that. I wish I could, but the fact of the matter is, I have no way to help you. I can tell my legions to search for the boy, but in the grand scheme of things the boy is not the most important issue right now. my kingdom has people out there starving and on the streets. entire villages burnt to the ground. thousands dead or injured. War with Egran on our doorstep. The legions are doing the best they can but with the dead stars still out there, and our legions spread thin theirs not much I can do. Im sorry. 

Tenebris: .....I understand....

Augustin: the trial of Corvis is tomorrow. after your testimony, I will provide a ship and supplies but that's all I can give you. 

Tenebris: thank you. (he walks out of the throne room, he sits down under a weeping cherry blossom tree and closes his eyes) 

CHAPTER 37 THE FORGOTTEN PATH 

(tenebris wakes up under a a weeping cherry blossom tree in the morning) 

Tenebris: Aghh...I must have fallen asleep under the tree last night. this reminds me of all that time we spent under that tree. Every time I came home from a mission you guys would always be up here. I guess deep down I always kept that memory close. Back on Chronosis I would go to that same tree, I really didn't know why, maybe I subconsciously thought you might be there. but you never were. I must've Forgotten those memories after so long. So why do I remember them now? 

Alex: it was the last place we were all together. 

Tenebris: (looks over and sees Alex sitting over the cliff. ) Alex? what are you doing here. 

Alex: That day. we had all gone up to that tree. you told us you had something important to tell us. 

Skye: (standing against the back side of the tree) when we got there you seemed so nervous. I remember thinking that was the first time I have ever seen you like that. I thought something bad had happened. 

Marx: (walks from behind tenebris) you preposed right there to Niki. I remember the smiles everyone had on their faces as you put the ring on her finger. 

Tenebris: Skye...Marx. 

Alex: (stands up and walks over to him) we left you two alone when sunset came. we didn't know that would be the last day we would ever get to spend together. 

Skye: I guess that was the last moment Erit thought of before....

Tenebris: (holds up the broken ring) Erit... 

Alex: Erit used all the anda energy left in his ring to stop you in barrok. 

Tenebris: (he stands up) what? 

Skye: we all used a lot of anda energy to stop you. if that happens again....

Marx: we don't know if we could stop you. 

Tenebris: what am I supposed to do? I can't control the power, the doctors at Renna said they couldn't get rid of it. 

Kane: you have to let go of the past. 

Tenebris: (looks behind him to see Kane) Kane? you said that before but I still don't know what that means, I mean I'm already forgetting everything that happened. I've accepted the past I have left, what else can I do? 

Kane: you can accept the past and still regret it. it isn't until you get rid of those regrets that you'll be healed. Erit is a start. He's gone and they're was nothing you could do about it. so stop blaming yourself. 

Tenebris: No, there was something I could have done, I could have been stronger...or..or or smarter. I could have controlled the power, not let my emotions win. I could have...have...I dont know what I could've done.

Kane: (looks disappointed) (everyone else looks away) Your path is your own. we cant walk it for you. but we well help you every step of the way. 

(they start disappearing one at a time) 

Tenebris: I cant see where I'm supposed to go.

Kane: we will guide you when the time comes. follow the light. 

Tenebris: what? (he blinks and he wakes up under the tree in Renna in the morning) (holding the broken ring) .....so its just what I thought...he really is gone. (he gets up and grabs a cherry flower from the tree and puts it down and starts carving something into the tree with a stone.) Goodbye Erit. (he starts walking away and he leaves behind the rock he used to carve " Erit Andresson. 12 B.T.E - 110 N.O.A. " onto the tree with the ring on the ground next to the flower. 

CHAPTER 38 LEFT AMOUNG THE CHERRYBLOSSOMS

(the chapter opens with arthor waking up) 

Arthor: (looks around the room and its still empty) still out? (he gets up and starts getting dressed, he takes his shirt off and you see scars all over his body) (he puts on his shirt and grabs his dagger and puts it on his belt. he goes to walk out the door and it opens and tenebris walks in) 

Tenebris: oh, morning Arthor. (sad) 

Arthor: where'd you go?  

Tenebris: I was just getting some air. the past...while has been....a lot. 

Arthor: what's wrong with the air in here? 

Tenebris: you know what I mean. (he walks over to the robes on his bed and starts getting dressed) 

Arthor: any leads on karri? 

Tenebris: ....no...

Arthor: ..... (leaves) 

(tenebris and arthor walk out to the castle courts and see Sol and magi talking with a few other legionaries) 

Sol: (notices tenebris) hey! we're getting your ship ready. 

Tenebris: thank you.

Sol: Ahh...it really is not problem, it wasn't even my idea I just happened to be the one to pick the ship and get it ready and...(tenebris and arthor staring at her)...AHH...I mean, your welcome. : ) 

Arthor: when is it going to be ready? 

Sol: it will be ready by this evening. should we get going? 

Tenebris: yes. 

Arthor: get going? where? 

Sol: Corvis's trial. 

Arthor: why does a man like Corvis get a trial? everyone knows he's guilty. 

Sol: Everyone gets a trial, It wont change his fate, Im sure he will be sentence with...

Magi: execution...that's the only outcome that man should get.  

Arthor: at least theirs one thing we can agree on.

Sol: but we aren't the ones deciding that.

Tenebris: did you get anymore information out of him? 

Sol: no, he didn't say anything...still nothing on karri. 

(they start walking away) 

Arthor: why do we need to go to a pointless trial, when we could be looking for karri. 

Tenebris: they said the ship wont be ready until evening anyway. Besides I have to testify. we might even learn more information about the other dead stars. 

Arthor: Fine. 

(they start walking down the street and they step into a courtroom packed with people and sit with Sol)(the king walks up to the stand) 

Augustin: the trial of Corvis Constello is now in secession. (corvis is thrown forward in cuffs with blood all over his clothes) The charges against you are, Mass murder, multiple accounts of Armed robbery, multiple accounts of Arson, and causing the death of multiple legionaries...including a royal knight....(looks over at Sol) how do you plead?

Corvis: not guilty. 

Augustin: of course. we will go over your most recent offences first and work back. I call Sol Lyon to the stand as the Head legionary responsible for your capture. (sol gets up and sits at the stand) Miss Lyon, could you tell the court how you came about capturing the accused? 

Sol: Ahh...yeah, I can do that...um, we had a lead on his whereabouts due to a man whom he attacked multiple times. that lead us to barrok, where he led an assault on the village, and that is where, I alongside the 17th legion stopped him and his crew. 

Corvis: I think your forgetting something. (sol looks at him annoyed)

Augustin: thank you sol, I will now call Tenebris...um no last name given to the stand. 

Corvis: (whispers to himself) there you are. 

Tenebris: (sits down at the stand)

Augustin: please give your testimony on the multiple accounts of your run ins with the dead star pirates. 

Tenebris: I first ran into the dead star pirates off the coast of barrok, when they attacked my ship. even though I had nothing of value on board, I ended up ship wrecked in barrok, where I would proceed to run into the dead stars once more, where I fought them and escaped with my life. Finally the last attack on barrok, ended up with the capture of Corvis after Sol's hard fought battle. 

Corvis: Sol's hard fought battle...heha heahaha HAHAHA. what this man forgot to tell the room is  that Sol was not the one to capture me. since this place is the house of truth, I should bring to your attention the man sitting there is part of the Kongur! 

(Crowd gasps)

Augustin: Order! Order! you will not speak unless spoken to. 

Corvis: I saw it, this man wasn't a common passerby, he was on a mission to kill me and my crew. We were getting to powerful for the Kongur to handle so they sent this man to stop us.

Tenebris: (his eyes narrow on Corvis) 

juror 4: is this true? 

Tenebris: no. he's lying to get the focus off of him and on to someone else. 

Corvis: This is my trial, I just want the truth to be dispersed. He is fabricating his stories in order to silence the only power rivaling the Kongur! 

Augustin: Order!...

Corvis: I have spent the last 15 years gathering forces and information to counter the coming threat of the Kongur, a Secret organization who run the underground. since Your king has decided to keep them a secret from the public. I will take it upon myself to reveal the truth. I have been trying to protect this kingdom from people like Tenebris! yet here I am, about to be killed for serving the kingdom. while your king stands with the actual threat. 

Juror 1:  do you expect us to believe you! you have terrorized our kingdom for the last 15 years! 

Corvis: You don't have to believe me, you want proof? look at his right arm. all the proof is under those bandages.

Sol: Tenebris don't, this man is trying to divide the court, he has said nothing but lies. 

Corvis: if they are lies then showing the injuries would surly prove his innocence? 

Augustin: ...Tenebris, you don't have to do this. 

Corvis: you deny the truth king? or are you apart of the Kongur's plan too? 

Augustin: you have no grounds on which to speak. may I remind you. your life is in my hands.

Corvis: You wanted the truth, so I gave it to you.  

Tenebris: fine (he goes to takes off his bandages)

Augustin: you don't have to do that.

Tenebris: I don't have anything to hide. ( shows everyone his arm covered by black energy) 

(the crowd goes wild) 

Augustin: what is that? 

Corvis: I'll tell you exactly what it is. The leader of the Kongur has the same energy, it eats Orku. I stand here the villain, while people like tenebris get to walk the streets planning his next victim. If it wasn't for Sol, Barrok would have been completely destroyed by this man! 

Sol: that's not what happened! 

Juror 2: his arm is unlike anything I've seen...

Juror 3: How could a person outside the legions take on the dead stars as he has said, unless he had a power like that! 

Sol: It doesn't matter what power that is! I saw firsthand the good he did in barrok! he was not fighting to kill Corvis, he was fighting to protect this kingdom and its people. 

Corvis: You did see first hand what happened at barrok, would you tell us what happened there? 

Sol: I already told you. 

Corvis: the truth this time...or did you forget that I was there too, and as my memory serves right, what you said never happened. after you and your legionaries had been subdued I tried to take out the real threat but tenebris lost control and turned into some kind of...demon. he attack everyone. friends, foes, it didn't matter. how can you defend someone like that? 

(jurors keep arguing)

Augustin: tenebris, get you and sol out of here I'll deal with this. 

Tenebris: I... 

Augustin: you have done your job. now get out of here before this becomes your trial too. 

Tenebris: (leaves the stand followed by sol magi and arthor) 

Corvis: (he give tenebris a wicked smile as he walks away, tenebris 

CHAPTER 38 STAR STRUCK

(the chapter opens with tenebris, sol, magi, and arthor, waiting in a room) 

Sol: I'm sorry, this trial wasn't supposed to go like this. all we were supposed to do was tell them what happened. how did he turn it on us like that. 

Tenebris: It's not your fault. 

Sol: how is this not my fault I'm the one who lied to the king and it backfired. now we look just as bad as Corvis.

Tenebris: it was my fault. I shouldn't have lost control like that. I still don't understand what this power is or why all this is happening but I should have done better.

Sol: if it wasn't for you we would all be dead, if you didn't use that power corvis would have taken it and become unstoppable. It was a necessary evil. 

Arthor: if you had just let me fight... 

Tenebris: Arthor, save it.

 Arthor: but it's true! 

Tenebris: Stop it. now's not the time. 

Magi: what do you thinks going to happen? 

Sol: I don't know. (they wait a bit and Augustin walks in) 

Sol: my lord (stands and bows)

Augustin: enough with that. (he walks over and sits down) 

Sol: what was the verdict? 

Augustin: Corvis was sentenced to life in prison.

everyone: What?

Augustin: unfortunately death seemed to escape him this time. 

Sol: but he's caused so much damage and hurt! 

Arthor: he tried to kill us! 

Augustin: look, he convinced the jurors that most of the charges he had done was in service to the kingdom. 

Arthor: there's no way! 

Magi: how could they not see him lying through his teeth!

Augustin: their nobles, they don't have any idea the suffering the dead stars caused. even if they were attacked, they have more servants and money, they could care less if a few shipments weren't made and a few lives lost. 

Arthor: sounds like some other group I know. (looks at magi and sol) Magi: why you little..!

Augustin: Enough! I have enough things to worry about right now. Tenebris, you can take arthor and leave now. the trial has no more use for you now. I thank you for everything, even if some of it was false, you still helped take down Corvis. as for you two (looks at Sol and magi) I would normally bar you from service for some time for pulling something like this. but we are currently stretched too thin. just know there will be consequences after this whole debacle. Dismissed. 

(they all leave the room) 

(walking down the empty street) 

Arthor: how can that guy just get away with doing anything he wants. if it wasn't for us he would still be out there doing who knows what. 

Tenebris: it's not our place to decide his fate. 

Arthor: we're the ones who fought him, I think that gives us the right to do with him what we want. 

Tenebris: this is a persons life arthor. it's not just another thing you own and can throw away any time you want. your lucky he didn't know about your history otherwise he would have take us down with him. 

Arthor: but he deserves it! 

Tenebris: let me ask you something. If you killed that pirate before coming to Renna, would you have deserved death? 

Arthor: that's so different. 

Tenebris: how? 

Arthor: their pirates, they do bad things, and they will keep doing them unless they are stopped. 

Tenebris: have you not done bad things just like they did?

Arthor: I did those things because I had to. 

Tenebris: you still did them, you'd be judged the same as that pirate. do you think you should be killed for those actions. 

Arthor: no! but...

Tenebris: then why should he be? 

Arthor: . . . . the pirate is a lot different then the head captain of the Dead stars.

Tenebris: Even so. its called mercy. It's something this world could use a little more of. 

Arthor: (thinking quietly) 

Tenebris: lets just get or stuff and leave. 

Arthor: yeah...

(they open the door to their room and they start packing all their belongings and walk out and meet sol and magi at the docks) 

Sol: the ships ready.

Arthor: finally. (he bords it) 

Tenebris: thank you. 

Sol: I guess this goodbye.

Tenebris: so it is. 

Sol: and ill never see you again. 

Tenebris: probably not. 

Sol: So...I guess...I just wanted to say...(stops)..I....(thinking) Ahh just say it before it gets awkward...wait it's already awkward. I paused for like 10 minutes...maybe not 10 but a long time and now he's just staring at me...no I have to say this before he leaves I can do it. I..

Magi: you good sis? (waves her hand over her face) (shrugs at tenebris who shrugs back) 

Tenebris: (just staring at her while she stares at him without saying anything).... bye. (he starts walking to the ship) 

Sol: (snaps out of overthinking) Wait I didn't tell you....(tenebris and arthor set off)...I thought your rings were cool. 

Magi: that's what you wanted to tell him!?  

(Arthor and tenebris start traveling to the northern gate and pass it and go out into the thousand isles ocean)

Arthor: where are we going now? 

Tenebris: (whispers to himself) (his eyes glow light blue)Show me the way forward (his rings start glowing and rise up and point in a direction. Arthor watches in awe) 

Tenebris: I guess we thats the way.  

Arthor: .....what the sh| CHAPTER 40 NECESSARY EVIL |
